View & Inputs of Internal Customers in Goal-Sheet
All stakeholders and internal customers must have a say in the finalization of the goal-sheet of the employee. This is important since the achievement of the defined goals will then form inputs for the said internal customers.
Customers here refer to internal customers only. While designing goal sheets of the employee, the element of customer’s viewpoint and his/her inputs is very important to include. In some ways it warrants a backward calculation from the expectations as defined by the customer. Rightly so, this exercise ensures that the deliverable is meaningful and usable by the end-user. KRAs, core responsibilities and initiatives need to be modified if need be, to achieve what the customer is asking for. In other words, the whole performance and the execution plan needs to be geared to the customer’s expectations. This is an aptitude which HR must strive to imbibe in the entire organization and must be part of the business planning exercise. For an employee & his/her business unit’s perspective, this is another form of business alignment.
