Initiatives- interim milestones
Initiatives are, at the end of the day, a kind of goal themselves and hence must be treated so in their execution too. When it comes to setting up interim milestones in assessing the progress, initiatives should be treated at par with goals. This is a planned and systematic approach towards initiatives which is very much required in order to increase the chances of successful delivery.
These are the projects which are different from business KRAs, as well as not the business-as-usual core responsibility. These are projects which are undertaken by the employee related to business improvement and transformation. They are crucial for the development of a long term competitive edge. HR must ensure that such initiatives are an integral part of all goal sheets since they contribute significantly to the long-term learning aspect by the employee. Just as interim milestones are an important part of the performance plan, so it is with special initiatives as well. A well planned initiative plan along with interim milestones will increase the chances of a successful execution.
