Interview panel including customers
It is important to include internal customers in the interview panel. If they have a say in the final selection of a candidate, they are much more likely to support him/her in coming up the curve as well.
This practice refers to including the internal customers of the position in the interview panel. Every position always has some internal customers or stakeholders towards whom the person manning the position is responsible to. It is important that besides HR and the reporting manager, senior employees of other functions who are internal customers to the function or process in which the position lies in, must also be part of the interview and assessment process. The reason for this is that the candidate, if selected, will be having deliverables to them and hence it makes sense if they too have a say in assessing him/her for the concerned position. An additional benefit also lies in the immediate acceptability of the candidate selected for the position. An internal customer will be willing to support and co-operate with the new employee from day one if he/she has been part of the selection process and is satisfied with the suitability of the candidate and his/her potential for delivering good performance and execution effectiveness.
