Manager & Reviewer
An employee is assessed in the Performance Management System at two levels – one is his/her reporting manager and the other is his/her manager’s manager. The manager’s manager has the last word and say in the final rating awarded to the employee.
In the Performance Management System, manager and reviewer represent the level-1 and level-2 appraisers of the appraisee. The manager is the direct reporting manager of the employee being appraised while the reviewer is generally the manager's manager. The reviewer will review both the appraisee's self rating and comments on the performance and also the appraiser's assessment of the same. Then he/she will award the final rating and comments as per his/her assessment. The reviewer's rating and comments are taken as final in the Performance Management Process. Also, if the appraisee does not agree with the rating or comments of the manager (appraiser), it is the reviewer's decision which stands final. Thus the reviewer also acts as an overseer and final authority in the performance assessment of an employee.
