Separate ranking on goals and competencies

Performance Management System

Peformance Management System is a 360 degree process to enable an organization drive its performance & execution. It includes the three pillars of performance (Goals-What?, Leadership- How?, Learning & Development).

Separate ranking on goals and competencies

Goals and Leadership competencies are separate sections in the Goal sheet. They are different expectations from the employee and hence must be assessed differently too. This is done by awarding separate rankings for goals and leadership competencies.

A combined rating can be of the form Gx1Lx2 where G and L stand for achievement in goals and leadership competencies performance respectively. X1 and x2 are the ratings for each. For e.g.. G3 L4 . A combined ranking is not as amenable to further treatment as a single numerical ranking is, but it reinforces the message that the employee is assessed not only on the execution of immediate business goals. He/she realizes that developing leadership competencies is just as important for performance excellence. Although this effect may not be quantifiably measurable, it can have a profound long-term impact on the performance as well as on learning & development.
