Sharing Ranking/Post Ranking Session


Post ranking session is a meeting between the appraiser and the appraisee where the latter is informed of the final rating that he/she has received. This provides a vital discussion opportunity for both and also drives accountability & ownership in the appraiser.

A post-ranking session is a session between the appraiser and the appraisee which is held after the former has awarded the ratings in the assessment sheet and normalization process has been applied. This helps in two ways. One is that the appraiser informs the appraisee about the final ranking that he/she has received and why was it awarded. It is critical both from HR and appraiser’s perspective that the employee (appraisee) is made to understand that the final rating which has been awarded has been for the performance and execution excellence displayed in the period of assessment and not the individual employee himself/herself. Detailed discussion and further feedback can happen at this stage as well. Secondly, it pushes the appraiser to take full responsibility of the rating that he/she has given to the concerned employee and openly discuss the rationale behind the same. Thus, in a way it enforces a sense of accountability in the appraiser as well.
